There is nothing we enjoy more than welcoming new people to our team. Team expansion means that Lossless is in a solid financial state and that we continue to attract the most talented people from within the DeFi industry.

Today, we welcome Ivo, our pseudonymous new colleague from Ukraine. As a seasoned in-house developer, Ivo will undoubtedly make a substantial contribution to our team. We will surely need an extra pair of hands as we continue to expand our range of security tools and exploit mitigation products.

We’ve asked Ivo a couple of questions about their journey to DeFi, their drives, and what makes them stand out in their field. Here’s what Ivo had to say:

What got you into Crypto?

I remember first hearing about it back in 2017 from a friend of mine who was earning some passive income from his trades on a popular exchange. Although his earnings were sizeable, it wasn’t the money that interested me. For me, it was all about technology and how it enabled these novel monetary systems. As I started researching on my own, I got sucked into a community of like-minded geeks. As you can probably guess, I haven’t left the industry since.

What excites you the most about this industry?

I must say it has to be the industry’s under-utilized potential. The pace of technological advances we are seeing is extremely rapid. It’s also disruptive, in the best meaning of the word. Web3 will undoubtedly be remembered as the beginning of a new paradigm, a new way of doing business. It is thrilling to be a part of this transformation.

What motivated you to join Lossless?

When I was approached by Lossless, I immediately knew that’s where I had to be. The Lossless vision resonated with me, and I jumped at the opportunity to work at the intersection of Web3 and cybersecurity. If we are to reach mass adoption and fully unleash the potential behind the technology, we have to have a foundation for strong security practices first. If I can help rid the industry of malicious actors, scammers, and hackers — I’m happy to be of service.

What makes you stand out within your field?

I’ve been complimented on my attention to detail and teamwork skills in the past. But, to be honest, it’s the fact that I’m an enthusiast as well as a developer. I still get super excited to try out new technologies, new protocols, and developer tools. I’ll spend a lot of my free time tinkering with various solutions, thinking about how I could improve on them. I think you really have to have this sort of internal motivation to be good at what you are doing and avoid burnout.

Why do you think your work matters?

I believe I can have a genuine impact through my development work in Web3 security. I can make a meaningful difference for at least a small group of enthusiasts — to protect the little guy from malicious exploits, scams, rug pulls, and the like. If I can create developer tools that help other projects protect their communities from the financial harm associated with smart contract hacks — even better. Perhaps in the not-so-distant future, we’ll be able to brag about how Lossless helped shape the modern Web3 security environment.
